Sarah was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and attended Laney High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a Morehead Scholarship. After graduation from UNC, Sarah moved to Chicago, Illinois to work as a consultant for Accenture, formerly Andersen Consulting. After living and working around the United States and Europe, Sarah thereafter enrolled in the University of Maryland School of Law, where she graduated cum laude and was an active member of the law school student body.

Following graduation from law school, Sarah practiced defense litigation for several years in Charlotte, North Carolina before deciding to move back home to Wilmington to work as an associate for Hodges and Coxe, P.C. Sarah currently practices in general civil litigation, focusing on real estate litigation, construction litigation, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and serious personal injury.
